Tornado Rips Through Thomasville

About 1:00 AM Thursday morning Feb. 19, 2009 , a tornado swept through the city of Thomasville, GA.  The residents of the neighborhood said that they never thought that this would ever happen to our community.  Many expressed that it was a “Blessing” that no one was hurt.  Naomi Monroe, wife of Jerry Monroe was one of the families whose home was destroyed in this event.  She was very happy to make it out alive.  She said “My son Terrence Monroe came to wake us up to take cover about 1:00 AM and I didn’t realize how bad it was until day came”.  The city of Thomasville responded very quickly to start the clean up and help those in need.
